Celebrating Achievements at Apsley House Care Home

We have been celebrating some wonderful personal achievements here at Apsley House Care Home, with residents enjoying the satisfaction of setting themselves a goal and seeing it through.

From a colourful crochet project to a completed jigsaw puzzle, it has been lovely to see the determination, creativity and enjoyment that these activities have brought.

At our care home in Bognor, we believe that everyday achievements are worth celebrating, especially when they reflect the interests, skills and personalities of the people who live with us.

Carole’s Technicolour Blanket

Following a plea to the local community for any spare wool, Carole has been busy putting it to very good use.

She has created an amazing technicolour blanket, carefully crocheting it piece by piece until she reached the goal she had set for herself.

The finished result is bright, colourful and full of character, and Carole was understandably delighted to see the project completed.

Activities like knitting and crochet can be a lovely way to enjoy a familiar hobby while also creating something to be proud of. For residents at our elderly care home, having the opportunity to continue with personal interests is an important part of everyday life.

Carole is certainly not resting on her laurels either. She already has the knitting needles ready for her next project, and we are looking forward to seeing what she creates next.

Isobel Completes Her Jigsaw

Meanwhile, Isobel has also been celebrating an achievement of her own.

With a little support from our Activity Coordinator, Sam, she has successfully completed a jigsaw puzzle that she had been working on over time.

Piece by piece and day by day, Isobel stayed focused on her goal until the final piece was in place.

It was a lovely moment and a reminder that activities do not have to be large or complicated to feel meaningful. For residents in residential care homes, having something enjoyable to work towards can help bring structure, purpose and a real sense of satisfaction.

And just like Carole, Isobel is already thinking ahead, with another jigsaw lined up and ready to go.

Activities That Reflect Individual Interests

At Apsley House, we aim to provide activities that are enjoyable, flexible and suited to individual interests.

Some residents enjoy creative projects, while others may prefer puzzles, music, gentle exercise or social activities. The important thing is giving people the opportunity to take part in something they genuinely enjoy.

As one of the quality care homes in Bognor, we are proud to create an environment where personal interests and achievements are recognised and encouraged.

Well Done, Carole and Isobel

A huge congratulations to both Carole and Isobel on reaching their goals.

It has been wonderful to see the pride they have taken in their achievements, and we are already looking forward to seeing what they both take on next.

Well done, ladies – fantastic work!

We believe a retirement home should be:

  • Where each person is an individual
  • Where there are no unnecessary rules and regulations
  • Where dignity, peace and comfort take priority
  • Where companionship, interest and activity flourishes.
  • And where people are supported to lead the fullest possible lives
